MONA, Juab County — A utility terrain vehicle rolled and burst into flames over the weekend, injuring four people, one of them critically.

The incident happened on Cemetery Lane in Mona on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Juab County Sheriff's Office. Two adults and two children were in a Polaris RZR 900 when deputies believe the vehicle took a turn too fast, rolled and immediately caught fire.

Two adults in the front seat and a 5-year-old boy in the back were able to get their seat belts off quickly. The seat belt of the teenage girl in the back, however, was stuck. According to the sheriff's office, the girl was saved by her grandfather and father who reached in the burning vehicle and pulled her out before she was complete swallowed by the flames.

"One occupant was flown to the University (Hospital) in critical condition. Two were treated at the scene and one person was transported to Central Valley Medical Center," the sheriff's office reported.

Both the father and grandfather reportedly suffered minor burns on their hands and arms, deputies said. The young boy suffered scratches.

Family members of the victims stated on Facebook that the girl suffered burns over 60 percent of her body. Another family member said the situation may have been even worse if not for one of the adults pulling the children out of the vehicle before being completely engulfed in flames.

The family had reportedly just purchased the vehicle.
