SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz held its first mini-camp practice on Friday before the 2015 Summer League, but the team was missing recent first-round draft pick Trey Lyles.

Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey called the delay that has prevented the team from signing Lyles "cap float time," explaining that the smaller salary cap hold could helped the organization sign a free agent or negotiate a trade.

"I love my job 99.99 percent of the time," Lindsey told the Deseret News. "There are small times where it's not as fun, and this is one.

"This is self-imposed ... That's on me. Don't blame the kid at all."

The Jazz GM added that Lyles and his camp were being regularly updated on his status, and there are no concerns between the two parties.

Neither the Jazz nor Lyles know when or if he will be available to join his teammates in the summer. Second-year players Dante Exum and Rodney Hood are on the list, as well as second-round draft pick Olivier Hanlan.

Former Utah and San Diego State player J.J. O'Brien was also on the roster, alongside returning Jazz summer league invitee Brock Motum.

Utah's D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede, sent guards Jared Cunningham and Nick Wiggins to play through the summer with the parent organization.

Jazz assistant Alex Jensen will coach the team during the Utah Jazz Summer League at EnergySolutions Arena, which begins Monday. Mike Wells will be the team's head coach at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

The Jazz also announced Friday that former Jazz players Mehmet Okur and Antoine Carr will attend the summer league next week. The duo will be on hand to sign autographs on Monday night and will also conduct several clinics for local children during the week.
