3-year-old dies in auto-pedestrian accident

MAPLETON, Utah County — A three-year-old boy was hit and killed by an SUV Wednesday night, police said.

The boy was hit in the road at about 9 p.m. in the area of 1100 North and 400 East. Mapleton police responded to the scene, where an officer performed CPR and ambulance personnel transported him to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Sgt. Phillip Bringhurst with the Mapleton Police Department.

Police do not believe drugs and alchohol were involved and there were no citations or arrests. Police said neither parent was involved in the accident.

The case is still under investigation. More details will be posted as they becomes available.
