EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A 17-year-old boy and three adults were injured in a vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon after the teen ran a stop sign, the sheriff’s office said.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of state Route 73 and Mustang Way, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. A 17-year-old boy from Eagle Mountain was driving a blue pickup southbound on Mustang Way when he ran the stop sign and hit a silver pickup driving eastbound on state Route 73, the sheriff’s office said.

A 66-year-old Cedar Fort man was driving the silver pickup with his 31-year-old son in the passenger seat and his 71-year-old wife in the back seat. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and he and his wife were transported to an area hospital. They had serious, but non-life threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

The 31-year-old man was treated at the scene with minor injuries.

The teen driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was airlifted by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said they don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
