ARCHES NATIONAL PARK — Do you recognize the couple in the photo? An Arkansas woman snapped the picture of the marriage proposal and is now trying to locate the couple to share the picture with them.

Emily Lodes said her family stopped in Arches National Park the last week in April while driving to San Francisco on vacation. She said they hiked to the iconic Delicate Arch and were standing across from it getting ready for a family photo, when she heard a lot of cheering.

“Everybody in the whole area started cheering and clapping and hollering,” Lodes said. “And we saw the fiancee down on his knee, proposing. So it was kind of a fun moment.”

Lodes said she had her camera out and so she instinctively snapped a photo of the tender moment under Delicate Arch.

“I could have easily not taken the picture … but I thought, ‘This is such a great thing, though. How could I not just take this opportunity and wouldn’t it be cool if I could get it to them?’ The thought that was going through my head was, ‘If I were they, I would want them to take the picture for me.’ ”

After taking the photo, Lodes said she couldn’t make it over to the couple because it was starting to rain and she decided to hike back down with her three children. Lodes posted the photo on her Facebook page on April 25 in an effort to locate the couple.

“I know people kind of share things all the time saying like, ‘Can you pass this along?’ ” Lodes said. “I was just really surprised like how generous people were. … Everybody was excited and hoping to get it to them.”

The picture has since been shared almost 30,000 times, and Lodes said she was surprised by how fast it spread.

“I wasn’t looking to make anything go viral,” she said. “I was just hoping to find them.”

Lodes said she still hasn’t heard from the couple, but she’s remaining hopeful. If you recognize the couple in the photo, contact Emily Lodes on Facebook.
