June festivals kick off summer around Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Utahns have a chance to celebrate their city's heritage at a festival this month.

From parades to petting zoos to live concerts and fireworks, kick off your summer with fun at a festival.

Now-June 6:Cedar Hills Family Festival: Enjoy a 5K fun run, swim night, children’s games, movie in the park, fireworks and a new carnival. All events except the swim night, Friday night dinner, golf tournament and carnival are free.

June 4-6:South Jordan Country Fest: A carnival, concerts, Dutch oven cook-off and fireworks are only some of the family friendly activities.

June 4-7:Utah Pride Fest: A 5K fun run, parade and live music are all a part of the celebration.

June 6:Skypark Aviation Festival: Enjoy lots of food while watching airplanes, skydivers and aviation groups. Introductory flight lessons are only $25.

June 6-8:Gunnison Valley Dairy Days: There will be a petting zoo, tractor show, cow milking, chicken chases, bounce houses, fireworks and more.

June 6-13:Springville Art City Days: This week-long festival has a parade, free family concert, fireworks, carnival and craft and food booths.

June 12-13: Ogden Kids ARTivities Festival: Fire up your imagination and creativity. Kid friendly, local nonprofit organizations and local businesses will offer a wide variety of fun activities like making masks, pinwheels, balloon animals and more.

June 12-13:Orem Summerfest: This festival will feature a children’s and grand parades, baby contest, car show, golf tournament and kids crafts. There will be plenty of food to enjoy plus concerts in the park featuring bands like Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband.

June 12-13:Utah Scottish Festival & Highland Games: Participate in traditional Celtic games, eat Scottish food and enjoy music from the Wicked Tinkers, Molly’s Revenge and Men of Worth at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. Ticket price for both days is just $15. Students ages 12-18 are just $10 and children 11 and under are free.

June 13:Asian Festival 2015: The Asian Festival marks its 38th year in 2015. The festival boasts performances, exhibits, arts and crafts and lots of food from various Asian communities like China, Cambodia, Hawaii, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. There will be a children’s activity center geared around the Year of the Ram. Admission is free.

June 13:Brigham City Heritage Arts Festival: Highlights include a quilt show, performances, artisans and children’s games. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy music under the chestnut trees.

June 13:Coalville City Barbecue: Dinner starts at 7 p.m. and includes free entertainment, kids zone and fireworks. Presale tickets are $7, tickets bought at the gate at $9.

June 13:Kaysville Art & Music Festival: Begin your day with sunrise yoga at 6 a.m. The festival features independent music, art, food and live music.

June 14-21:Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days: The longest running event in Utah features a car show, baby show, pie-eating contest, sporting events, pageant, parade, rodeo, carnival and children’s events, plus lots of good food.

June 15-20:Nibley City Heritage Days: Includes a children’s theater, mayor’s dinner, free family fun activities, lots of food and entertainment and will end with fireworks Saturday when it’s dark.

June 17-20:Bryce Canyon Annual Astronomy Festival: Highlights include a rocket building and launching contest, a portable planetarium, huge telescopes and constellation tours.

June 18-20:Fort Herriman Days: Celebrate Herriman City with a car show, carnival, races, parades, a concert and fireworks.

June 18-20:Logan Arts Faire Summerfest: Considered Cache Valley’s “summer kick-off event,” this Father’s Day weekend festival will have fine art, lots of food and entertainment with a headliner concert every night. The festival features art from 150 artists across the country. The Family Art Yard will have creative projects for the entire family, free of charge.

June 18-21:WestFest: Celebrate the establishment of West Valley City and celebrate the cultural backgrounds of its many residents. The festival includes carnival rides, international cuisine, multicultural entertainment, a concert from the West Valley Symphony, a showing of “Big Hero 6” and a family fun run. June 19-20:Utah Foster Care Chalk Art Festival: Celebrate the age-old tradition of street painting at the Gateway Mall. Murals will remain in place until after Father's Day.

June 19-21:Tooele Arts Festival: The Tooele Arts Festival boasts visual artists, food vendors and stage performances. A free children's art yard will have hands-on activities for children. The festival takes place at the Tooele City Park and admission is free.

June 20-28:Lehi Round-up Celebration: This festival has a 5K and kid's run, art show, baby contest, family western barbecue, golf tournament, parades and a rodeo.

June 22-28:Cedar City Groovefest: This weeklong festival features lots of local art and 17 musicians and groups will headline concerts.

June 25-27:Taylorsville Dayzz: This family friendly festival will feature concerts from the Utah Symphony, Taylorsville Orchestra, a Billy Joel & Elton John tribute with dueling pianos, a movie night, carnival and two nights of fireworks.

June 25-28:Utah Arts Festival: Enjoy live entertainment and music suitable for all ages. The kids area will have crafts, a petting zoo and a PB & J booth.

June 25- October 31:Utah Shakespeare Festival: Nearly 130,000 people will trek to southern Utah to see classic Shakespearean plays like "King Lear" and "The Taming of the Shrew." The festival also includes contemporary plays like "Charley’s Aunt" and "South Pacific." Check out bard.org for dates and pricing information.

June 26-27: Elk Ridge City Celebration: Highlights include a pancake breakfast, parade, 5K fun run, craft fair, bake-off, animal show, movie night, live music and lots of food.

June 26-28:Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally: Fun and entertainment for all ages. Help pilots launch their hot air balloons every morning at 6:30 a.m. Kids can help pilots weigh balloon baskets.
