SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah doctor found guilty of murder in his ex-wife's death is asking a judge to overturn his conviction.

Lawyers for Salt Lake City pediatrician John Brickman Wall say in court documents filed Tuesday that the evidence doesn't support the jury's guilty verdict in the largely circumstantial case.

The 51-year-old Wall is scheduled to be sentenced in July.

Prosecutors said that Wall attacked 49-year-old cancer researcher Uta von Schwedler with a knife, dosed her with an anti-anxiety drug Xanax and drowned her in her bathtub in 2011.

Defense attorneys argue that the wounds on her body, disarray in her home and blood found in her bed could instead be evidence of a suicide.

A judge didn't immediately rule on the motion to arrest judgment.
