SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in custody following a domestic incident that led to him crashing his girlfriend’s vehicle, attempting to pull her out, and eventually being dragged 50 feet while the couple’s nine-month-old baby looked on, police said.

Approximately 5:04 p.m. Friday, a man identified as Myron D. Sandoval, 20, had a dispute with his girlfriend, according to Salt Lake police. Sandoval’s girlfriend, who has not been identified at this point, departed for work.

Sandoval then took their nine-month-old child with him in a second family car and pursued his girlfriend, tracking her down at a high rate of speed, police said. He caught up to her at 1000 W. California Ave., where he cut her off and attempted to execute a panic-stop, causing her to run into the back of the car Sandoval himself was driving.

At this point, Sandoval exited his vehicle and attempted to accost his girlfriend, punching through her driver’s window and trying to open the door, police said. He was unable to do so, and instead grabbed his girlfriend’s arm. The girlfriend, fearing for her personal safety, accelerated away from the scene, dragging Sandoval roughly 50 feet before he let go, according to police.

Sandoval’s girlfriend then stopped, retrieved the baby from the other vehicle, and returned home to call police.

Sandoval was later tracked down at a health clinic, where he was being treated for multiple injuries, police said. He was arrested and booked on charges of criminal mischief, domestic violence, child endangerment and reckless driving.
