Herriman, Lehi to meet for 5A softball title; PG advances to baseball championship

TAYLORSVILLE — Mikaela Thomson had four hits and four RBIs as Herriman knocked off Copper Hills 7-6 on Thursday and advanced to the Class 5A softball championship Friday at Valley Complex.

Bryce Taylor tossed a complete game for the Mustangs (26-4), who will meet defending champion Lehi (25-9) in Friday's championship at 10 a.m.

Class 4A softball

Winning pitcher Cambrie Hazel had six strikeouts to help Spanish Fork overwhelm Springville 7-1 and advance to the 4A championship game, where it will face Maple Mountain at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The Golden Eagles rolled Salem Hills 15-6 in the one-loss bracket.

Class 5A baseball

Easton Walker had an RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to help Pleasant Grove edge Cottonwood 3-2 and advance to Friday's 5A state championship final.

Walker finished with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs for the Vikings, who will play Bingham in the title game at UVU.

Tanner Burr, Brayden Diddle and Tyler Zupon each drove in two runs to help the Miners overcome the Colts 8-4 for their fifth straight victory.

Class 4A baseball

Matt Creer went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Spanish Fork rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to sneak past Salem Hills 7-6 and advance to the 4A title game at UVU.

Devin Argyle went 3-for-4 for Spanish Fork, which will meet Maple Mountain in the title game.

The Golden Eagles scored 11 total runs in the fourth and fifth innings to overwhelm the Skyhawks 15-6 in the one-loss bracket final. BYU football commit Jaren Hall went 4-for-4 with five RBIs to lead Maple Mountain.
