WEST JORDAN — A man was injured when he tried to help a motorist whose car stalled in traffic.
The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday near 5000 South and Bangerter Highway, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department. He said it's a dark stretch of road with no shoulder and the stalled car remained in the traffic lane.
Hoyal said the good Samaritan was hooking up the stalled car to his own truck when two vehicles approached from behind. The first car swerved out of the way at the last minute, giving the second vehicle, a Ford F-150, little time to react.
"Once he crashed into the stalled vehicle, it knocked that vehicle into the victim who was outside of his car in the process of chaining up to it so that he could tow it," Hoyal explained.
The good Samaritan was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash.
