WEBER COUNTY — The body of a woman was discovered by a mountain biker on the East Ogden Bench Monday morning, investigators said.

Detectives from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating the incident. They reported the body was discovered on the side of the mountain above 1500 N. Mountain Road.

"A man on a mountain bike discovered the body above a hiking trail in thick oak brush after his dog alerted to a foul odor," a statement from the sheriff's office reads.

Officers from the North Ogden Police Department responded to the area at about 9:22 a.m. The body was recovered with assistance from the Weber County Search and Rescue climb team.

"It does appear the body has been on the hillside for some time," a statement from the sheriff's office reads.

The cause of death and identity of the woman has yet to be determined, according to investigators. Detectives from the Weber County Sheriff's Office are working with the Medical Examiner's Office.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be added as it becomes available.
