OGDEN — An 18-year-old man is dead after being shot several times early Sunday.

Police identified the man as Francisco Lopez, of Ogden.

An officer responding to a call of a loud party heard shots unrelated to the party at 1:18 a.m. about a block away, according to Ogden Police Lt. Will Cragun. He responded to Harrison Blvd. and 7th and found a man who had been shot several times, on the ground close to the northwest side of the intersection.

Medical crews treated the man at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, Cragun said. A weapon was not recovered.

Relatives said Lopez attended a family gathering Saturday night.

"We loved him very much. He was 18. He was still young," said his sister Maria Lopez. "It doesn't seem real."

Maria Lopez said her brother worked all week and went to family gatherings on the weekends. No one noticed when he left that night.

Family members said Francisco Lopez was not in a gang, but wonder if the shooting was gang-related.

"We were close. He would have told me something. I never heard anything. anything," Maria Lopez said.

Police are looking for a dark colored or blue sedan passenger car that was seen near the area around the time of the shooting.

The Ogden Police Department Major Crimes Division and Weber County Homicide Task Force are investigating.

Those with additional information about this case are asked to call Ogden police at 801-629-8221.
