SLIDELL, La. (AP) — Quack! Quack! A duck call ringtone helped a Louisiana firefighter rescue six ducklings from a storm drain.

Spokesman Chad Duffaut of St. Tammany Fire District #1 says even with realistic quacking sounds coming from his cellphone, it took Firefighter Cody Knecht about 90 minutes to catch the first four baby mallards in the southeast Louisiana community of Slidell.

After discussing the logistics of the duck rescue for a few minutes, Arnold, a 6-foot-9-inch police officer, decides to jump into the drain himself.

Detective Arnold proceeds to block off the underground tunnels with cardboard to prevent their escape, gathering and passing the frightened ducklings to the rescuers on the ground.

"It's okay, Shh shh shh, go on," Arnold said ushering the ducklings into his hands. "Come here guys."

Some of the ducklings fled Arnold's grasp at first — but in the end, all eight ducklings were rescued.
