SALT LAKE CITY —Efren Navarro had three extra base hits and three runs batted in to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 6-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas on Saturday night.
Navarro's RBI double in the first gave the Bees a 1-0 lead. He led off the fourth with a double and scored on a single by Alex Yarbrough to make it 3-1 and Navarro capped off the night with a two run homer over the 406 foot sign in straight away centerfield.
Salt Lake starting pitcher Andrew Heaney (3-0) picked up the win, as he went five and one-third innings and allowed two runs on six hits with two walks and no strikeouts. Relief pitcher Kurt Spomer came in to protect a three run lead in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out.
After giving up a single that cut the Bees' lead to 4-2, he retired the next two batters to work out of the jam. Josh Rutledge, Kyle Kubitza and Jett Bandy each added two hits, as Salt Lake earns its fifth consecutive win.
