LARAMIE COUNTY, Wyo — More than 40 cars and trucks were involved in a huge pileup on Interstate 80 in Wyoming on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, 33 semitrucks and 12 other vehicles crashed during a blizzard between Cheyenne and Laramie. Many other motorists were stranded behind the accident that completely blocked the highway.

Sixteen victims were taken by ambulance and 11 more were taken by a school bus to a hospital in Cheyenne. Six were listed in critical condition, but the Wyoming Highway Patrol said there are no reports of fatalities.

Several agencies responded to the crash to help transport victims and help clean up the accident. Both directions on I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie are expected to be closed through Friday afternoon.
