OGDEN — Harrison Boulevard reopened Friday evening after a natural gas leak caused the road closure in addition to an nine-home evacuation, officials said.
Questar responded to the area just east of Historic 25th Street and Harrison Boulevard after the 4-inch line was accidentally ruptured by a construction crew at around 7 p.m., according to Susan Davis, Captain of the Ogden Fire Department.
Crews secured the area, monitored the air and evacuated nine homes the gas leaked into, Davis said.
Questar employees stopped about three quarters of the 5-foot leak when they shut off the valve and continued to dig so they could crimp a line that would fully stop the leak, Davis said.
Harrison Boulevard was closed in both directions from 26th Street to 24th Street for about two hours, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
