SALT LAKE CITY — Smith’s Food & Drug recalled its bakery-made carrot cakes in seven states, the grocery store chain announced Thursday.

Carrot cakes packaged April 1 or earlier contain walnuts that are not listed on the label, Smith’s announced in a press release.

"People who are allergic to walnuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this produce,” the release reads. "For consumers who are not allergic to walnuts, there is no safety issue with the product.”

The recall is in effect in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.

No customers have so far reported an allergic reaction to the cakes, Smith’s said. Anyone who has bought a recalled item may return it to the store for a refund.

The cake was packaged in three ways, and all three items were recalled. Smith’s said it has removed the insufficiently labeled items from store shelves.

The recalled items are as follows:

Smith’s Bakery Fresh Carrot Cake; 1/4 sheet; barcode number: 41573-07058

Smith’s Bakery Fresh Carrot Cake; 1/8 sheet; barcode number: 770118-22460

Smith’s Bakery Fresh Carrot Cake Slice (5 ounces); barcode number: 750903-91714
