MILLCREEK — A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday, March 28, after he was shot in an altercation with several men. The shooting appears to be gang related, police say.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 4050 South and 300 East, Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said.

Witnesses told police a group of four Hispanic men, ages 18 to 19, were walking south along 300 East, followed by a group of three African-American males. One of the men in the first group turned and fired a gun the second group, hitting the 15-year-old, Hoyal said.

The teenager, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, Hoyal said.

Witnesses said the gunmen fled the scene. Three of them were wearing blue clothing, and the fourth was dressed in white, Hoyal said.

Police officers were searching a nearby apartment complex Saturday evening, trying to locate the men.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Unified police at 801-743-7000.
