HOUSTON — Sweet 16 watching parties are being planned around Utah Friday for the University of Utah's match-up against Duke in the NCAA Tournament. The first lady of Utah basketball says don't count the Runnin' Utes out.
Jan Krystkowiak spoke to KSL from Houston about Friday's game.
"I do believe Utah has a good chance of winning, and I think the kids believe it too. I'm sure the pressure is there, but this is a unique group of kids we have," Krystkowiak said.
She also talked about providing emotional support.
"My role is to make sure everybody is happy and gets what they need," she said. "I give a lot of hugs. I had dinner with some of the players at the hotel and we had some big laughs and big hugs. I feel like I have a lot of sons."
She said her husband being called “the new Coach K” is flattering. However, she said she avoids most media coverage to not get caught up in the emotion or hype.
She said her Coach K is good at finding weaknesses in the other team's armor and he will exploit that.
