SALT LAKE CITY — On May 15, Mitt Romney is coming to Utah to campaign for a cause — and it’s not a political one. Romney will be boxing champion Evander Holyfield in the ring to raise proceeds for a local charity.
The proceeds for the match at The Rail Event Center, 235 N. 500 West, will go to Charity Vision, a Salt Lake City nonprofit that focuses on blindness in developing countries.
According to the Associated Press Romney and Holyfield will spar in full protective gear.
“We are doing a charity thing and a fight with Mitt. I just got to talk him into showing up,” Holyfield said jokingly said in an interview with Fox Business. “I just want him to stop hiding — cuz he is going to get the whopping. You can’t run and you can’t hide.”
Holyfield won the heavyweight crown in 1990 and is also well-known for the 1997 incident when Mike Tyson bit off a piece of Holyfield's ear during the WBA Heavyweight Championship Fight in Las Vegas.
