WASHINGTON TERRACE — Investigators with the Weber County Sheriff's Office say a 32-year-old woman was killed in her Washington Terrace apartment late Friday.

Her body was found just before midnight when deputies and investigators responded to the Woodland Cove Apartments, 374 E. Ridgeland Drive.

"She suffered apparent trauma, and her cause of death is still being determined," said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay.

Police did not release the woman's name Saturday pending notification of family members.

Earlier Friday evening, Ogden police investigated a hit-and-run accident near 3000 Harrison Blvd. involving a vehicle that was registered to the victim, but was being driven by a man. Sheriff's deputies attempted to contact her at her apartment, but no one came to the door. They later entered the apartment and found her deceased, Findlay said.

Police determined the woman's car was being driven by Lyle Robert London, 38, from Ogden. He was later apprehended at a residence near the 25th block of Orchard Ave. in Ogden and booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, abuse and desecration of a human body, and unlawful possession and use of a financial card.

Findlay said London is an "associate" of the victim, and "it is believed that he murdered her in her Washington Terrace apartment and then tried to conceal the crime. Mr. London then used some of the victim's financial cards and completed several fraudulent transactions."

The lieutenant said evidence recovered in the victim's vehicle and the testimony of a witness at the scene allowed police to quickly identify London and locate him during the investigation.

London's wife, Shuree Laness London, 35, was also booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of obstruction of justice because she allegedly "had knowledge of this crime and assisted Mr. London after the fact," Findlay said. She had been staying at a hotel near 1400 S. Washington Blvd., according to police.

Washington Terrace City manager Tom Hanson expressed condolences to family members of the victim.

"It is during these difficult times that we remember how fragile life is and how important it is to be a community together and support one another," Hanson said in a prepared statement. "As members of Washington Terrace City, we share the grief the family must be feeling and extend our utmost support to the family and the public safety personnel who assisted in this tragic circumstance."

Weber County Sheriff Terry Thompson said the investigation is still active and that deputies were following up on "many leads" in the case.

A search of court records indicates Lyle London has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanor charges dating back to 1999, including possession of drug paraphernalia, intoxication, simple assault, interruption of a communication device, criminal mischief, theft and various traffic violations.

Shuree London also pleaded guilty to theft in 2010, as well as several traffic violations.
