Six weeks ago, 3,600 people pledged to lose weight for Studio 5's 10-pound challenge. The philosophy stems from “Studio 5” health and fitness contributor Melanie Douglass, who wants to help people start off 2015 with a bang.

“My goal is to get people to enjoy health and fitness and make it a positive experience," she says. "I want people to have a positive relationship with food and a positive relationship with exercise.”

Tuesday marked the end of the challenge with a party at South Davis Recreation Center. Challengers who have been cheering each other on were able to come together for the first time in a fitness party packed with prizes and a group workout session.

Studio 5 host Brooke Walker says, “Really, at the end of the day, the real reward is feeling better, making healthy changes, and putting your mind to doing something and seeing those results really pay off.”

Last year’s challengers lost 11,000 pounds combined. The total weight lost for this year’s challenge as well as the winner for a Nordic Track Incline Trainer will be announced on Feb. 24 during Studio 5.
