TAYLORSVILLE — A 21-year-old woman was killed Thursday night after she was hit by a vehicle.

At about 9 p.m., police were called to the scene of an auto-pedestrian accident on 3600 West and 5400 South, according to UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal. When police arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old woman had been hit and killed.

The female driver, who was in an Isuzu Trooper, initially left the scene, but returned later and identified herself, Hoyal said.

According to Hoyal, witnesses said the victim was in the crosswalk, crossing against the red light.

A section of 5400 South will be closed for at least a couple of hours as the investigation continues, Hoyal said. He urged drivers in the area to use caution and avoid the area if possible.

More details will be posted when they are available.
