SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert is a rising star in the NBA, and a giant on the basketball court.
Standing 7 feet 2 inches tall, he has a wingspan of nearly 7-foot-9 and a standing reach of 9-foot-4, which have earned him nicknames such as "Stifle Tower" and "Gobzilla."
But none of that gave him an edge when he recently met a tough competitor on the court at the Zions Bank Basketball Center.
Deanie Wimmer stands just 5 feet 3 inches tall, but she's a giant in broadcasting and is on her game each evening on KSL-TV. But was she able to hold her own on the basketball court with Gobert?
In a charming recent encounter, Gobert shared with Wimmer what he misses most about his native France, his favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City, his impressions of Utah and his mother's best advice. He also shared some tips on the free-throw line to help Wimmer improve her shooting percentage.
