SALT LAKE CITY — The grand opening for the new Glendale library will be held Feb. 7, making it the seventh branch in Salt Lake City.
The Glendale Branch is also the largest Salt Lake City library branch with nearly 20,000 square feet of space, according to the Salt Lake City Public Library website. Located at 1375 S. 1240 West, the library will offer 40,000 circulating materials, public computers, a teen lab, a grand piano and a large meeting facility, the website said.
The Glendale Branch will be easily accessible for students, located only one block from the Glendale Middle School, Mountain View Elementary School and the Salt Lake CIty Shcool District’s Community Learning Center.
“The Glendale neighborhood is one of the most diverse communities in Salt Lake City and includes a high percentage of residents that are under age 18,” a statement on the city website said. “The LEED Certified Gold Glendale Branch will celebrate the Glendale neighborhood's history and diversity while offering services to accommodate this changing community's needs.”
The grand opening will be open to the public and will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by additional activities and performances, the website said.
The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.
