SALT LAKE CITY — The second Utah’s Stars and Friends performance was announced Tuesday as a benefit concert and will feature broadway star Alfie Boe and several local artists.
Tony-award winning Alfie Boe is best known for his performances as Jean Valjean in the broadway musical “Les Miserables.” He will headline the performance and will be joined by local artists Lexi Walker, the One Voice Children’s Choir and We Are The Strike, according to a Utah's Stars and Friends news release.
In addition to the scheduled artists, the 40-piece Utah’s Stars and Friends Orchestra will also perform, conducted by Utah legend Ray Smith, the news release said.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and Operation Underground Railroad, nonprofit organizations.
“Many of the artists who are performing as part of the show are either doing so at their own expense or have significantly reduced the costs for their services,” show producer Carl Bacon said in a news release. “We’re grateful for their generosity in being part of this great event.”
The concert will be held Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m., but several pre-show acts will begin at 6:30 p.m. The show will be held at the Utah Valley University UCCU Center. Tickets will go on sale Friday and can be purchased at the UCCU Center box office, at any Smith’s Tix outlet and online.
