HONOLULU, Hawaii — Last year, Amber Bellows died after a BASE jumping accident in Zion National Park. The 28-year-old woman and her husband, who also jumped that day, had only been married two weeks.
Now, Bellows’ husband, Clayton Butler, is also dead following an apparent paragliding accident.
Multiple sources, including Butler’s publicist, said Butler died while paragliding at Kaena Point on the island of Oahu Thursday. The medical examiner told KSL News the cause of death to "blunt force injuries to the torso.”
Those who knew him best said Butler was one of the best guys you could ever meet.
“Clayton was one of the hardest working and most passionate extreme athletes I’ve ever worked with. As his friend, I can also tell you he was a very sincere and generous person,” said Josh Lloyd, Butler’s friend.
Lloyd called Butler’s death “a tragic accident and nothing more,” and said both Butler and his late wife will be missed.
The crash in Hawaii was still being investigated Saturday.
