WEST WARREN, Weber County — A man died when the tractor he was driving rolled on top of him after being hit by a truck Friday evening.

Just before 6:00 p.m., Michael Hollis Parker, 56, was driving the tractor and pulling a flat bed trailer behind him on 900 South 6700 West as he went to feed the animals on his farm, according to Lt. Lane Findlay with the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

A truck coming eastbound at 50 miles-per-hour, the posted speed limit, then ran into the back of the trailer and rolled three times into the center of the road as the tractor and trailer rolled off of the side of the road, Findlay said.

The tractor, which had been going about 10 miles-per-hour, rolled on top of Parker, and he was killed instantly, Findlay said. The 33-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured.

Neither the tractor nor the trailer had any lights, Findlay said.

"Our hearts go out to the family," Findlay said. "It's such a tragic deal."

900 South is a major route through the sparsely populated area leading to businesses near Little Mountain.

As of 8 p.m., the road was closed at 6700 West and about a mile east to 5900 West. Findlay said it will likely remain closed for a couple of hours.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said they viewed it as a tragic accident.
