SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City will offer curbside recycling for Christmas trees in January.

City officials announced Tuesday that people can leave their trees on the curb to be picked up and composted on Jan. 12. People can also leave their trees in their brown curbside compost bin for regular weekly pickup.

The Wasatch Front Recycling District, which serves suburbs around Salt Lake City, is also offering curbside recycling starting Jan. 5 and continuing through the 30th.

Trees must be free of lights or decorations.
