CEDAR CITY — Three people were arrested Saturday in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store in Cedar City the day before.

About 6:30 a.m. Friday, a man and a woman entered a Texaco store, 1075 W. 200 North. Surveillance footage showed the couple walking around inside the store before the woman left.

The man approached the clerk and demanded money before revealing the handle of a knife with the blade concealed inside his clothing, said Cedar City Police Lt. Darin Adams. The man then left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following numerous tips from the public, police confirmed the identities of the man and the woman, and located them and another suspect in Cedar City.

St. George residents Victoria Elizabeth Fanton, 25, and Louis Eleuteri Mcnealsandoval, 32, were booked into the Iron County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery and theft.

Benjamin Michael Wulfenstein, 38, of Elko, Nevada, allegedly drove Fanton and Mcnealsandoval away following the robbery. He was also booked for investigation of aggravated robbery and theft.

A search of court records indicates Fanton has pleaded guilty to several charges since 2008, including retail theft, assault, unlawful detention and driving without a valid driver's license.

We often say that we can't do our job effectively without the help of the public, and this was very evident of that fact. We're very grateful for their willingness to come forward and give us the information.

–Lt. Darin Adams, Cedar City police

Wulfenstein pleaded guilty to illegal use or possession of a controlled substance in 1995. He was extradited from Utah as a fugitive from justice from another state in 1997. He also faces another drug charge from this year.

Adams credits the arrests to tips from members of the community.

"We often say that we can't do our job effectively without the help of the public, and this was very evident of that fact," Adams said. "We're very grateful for their willingness to come forward and give us the information, and we're pleased with our investigators for their diligent efforts throughout the holiday to bring this to a safe conclusion."
