ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Police in the southern Utah city of Enoch gave drivers a Christmas surprise this week when officers pulled them over and gave them cash instead of a ticket.

The Spectrum of St. George reports Enoch police received a donation and decided to give it back to the community on Tuesday.

Enoch City Police Chief Jackson Ames says officers pulled over six drivers for legitimate infractions. Instead of issuing tickets, the officers handed out $100 in cash.

The department posted a video of the operation on their Facebook page.

Ames says police usually use donations to buy gifts to someone in need but decided to try a different approach this year.
