BRIGHAM CITY — A 34-year-old man was critically injured in a rollover accident on I-15 Wednesday evening and later died.

The accident occurred on northbound I-15 near Brigham City around 5 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol. A Tremonton man was traveling in his 2001 Ford Explorer when he drifted right and drove onto the shoulder of the freeway. The man overcorrected to the left, drove into the middle emergency land and then overcorrected back to the right, UHP says.

The vehicle rolled four times across the freeway and went off the right-hand side, rolling down an embankment. The vehicle came to a stop in a field about 100 feet from 1-15, UHP said.

The 34-year-old driver was critically injured and was transported to the Brigham City Community Hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.

An initial investigation of the accident showed the man was wearing his seat belt and there were no signs of impairment or distracted driving, UHP said.

The man has not yet been identified, pending notification of family.
