PROVO — A man was arrested after several incidents in Utah County, including driving through a fence and climbing onto a train and refusing to get off, police said.
At 5:32 a.m. Tuesday, a white male carrying a golf club entered the 7-Eleven convenience store at 1808 S. State in Provo. He grabbed a sandwich and two chips before walking to the exit, according to Provo police.
The store clerk asked the man about payment, to which the man responded, “Do you want to test me?” before smashing displays by the cash register, police said.
He left the scene in a silver Honda and drove south toward Springville. The Springville Police Department did not immediately return phone calls Tuesday afternoon to specify what caused the evasive action.
In Springville, a man driving a silver Honda avoided police by driving through a wire fence, police said.
Shortly after, Provo police received report of a vehicle with 50 feet of wire fencing attached to its front bumper parked at an apartment complex at 974 W. 600 South. Officers identified Springville resident Casey Kruitmoes using information from the vehicle, and were able to connect him with the 7-Eleven robbery.
Just before 7:45 a.m., Provo police responded to a call of an intoxicated, trespassing man at the Union Pacific rail yard near 500 East and 900 South. According to the report, the man had climbed atop a train and was refusing to leave.
When officers arrived, they said they found Kruitmoes, who fled from officers. When officers caught up with him, Kruitmoes put on a pair of brass knuckles. Officers drew stun guns and negotiated with him.
Officers arrested Kruitmoes on suspicion of criminal mischief, failure to stop at command of an officer and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.
