SALT LAKE CITY — Crews are putting out a large fire that broke out in a recreational vehicle outside a home and spread to a shed in Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake City Fire Department says the fire started inside the RV and quickly spread to the nearby shed outside of a home on 500 N. Main St.

Neighbors blocks away said they could see black smoke from their windows.

"I was just parking in my garage and I also saw the smoke coming up, like very thick smoke,” said resident Daniel Anastacio. “So I just came down here to see what was happening.”

Jared Schreiner, one of the first Salt Lake City firefighters on the scene, said he and his crew quickly tried to stop the flames from spreading to neighboring homes.

"There's just a little bit of fire damage to the adjacent exposures, as we call them, those two garages that are right there,” Schreiner said. “Just a little fire damage to the exterior walls; other than that it's been contained and isolated to the RV.”

The homeowner and owner of the trailer told KSL there was no electricity running though the RV or the shed on his property, and he's not sure how the fire would have started. He just said he came out and saw the flames.

No injuries have been reported and investigators are trying to determine the cause.
