Killings of 2 New York officers trigger backlash

Civil rights leaders Sunday condemned the ambush killings of two New York police officers and expressed fear that the backlash over the bloodshed could derail the protest movement that has grown out of the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

Utah family making renewed push for bullet proof windows on heels of NYC police shootings

The ambush-style killings of two New York City police officers Saturday brought back painful memories for at least one Utah family.

The family of Cory Wride recently established the non-profit group Utah Code 4, named after the police radio code used to inform others that an officer is OK. A website was expected to be launched soon. Until then, the group has set up a Facebook page.

Children get new clothes thanks to Quarters for Christmas donations

"Today is like the best day of my life," 10-year-old Kiara Alldredge told KSL Saturday when she received new shoes as part of KSL's Quarters for Christmas.

Kiara is one of 15 children benefiting from donations made through KSL's Quarters for Christmas, along with about 20 members of UPD who helped make it possible for the children.

Holiday travelers expected to break records

This year may be among the busiest holiday travel seasons in history.

The Mountain West region is forecast to see the highest number of travelers ever for the end-of-the-year holiday season, according to a recent survey. AAA Utah predicts that more than 7.4 million area residents will travel during the final days of the year, representing an overall increase of 3.2 percent from the same time in 2013.
