SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police recovered a suspect who crashed a vehicle while fleeing a routine traffic stop, then fled on foot Thursday night.

Police Detective Richard Chipping said officers attempted to stop a vehicle near 900 South 900 East when the driver fled.

"Officers did not choose to pursue because it's a moving violation," said Det. Chipping.

The subject then continued to drive "pretty quickly" from the area.

While attempting to make a right hand turn at 400 South, the subject crashed the vehicle near the TRAX line and fled on foot.

"Officers set up containment and used canines and located the subject," Det. Chipping said.

No injuries were sustained by the male suspect.

More information will be updated as it becomes available.
