MORGAN COUNTY — A rollover accident late Wednesday night killed a man and injured four others.

The accident occurred just before midnight on state Route 167, also known as Trapper’s Loop, according to Utah Highway Patrol. Five people were traveling southbound in a 2008 Mazda when the vehicle rolled.

A 19-year-old male and the 20-year-old male who was driving were both ejected from the vehicle during the accident and were airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in extremely critical condition. The 19-year-old later succumbed to his injuries.

The three other passengers in the vehicle were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said excessive speed was a factor in the cause of the accident and none of the occupants were wearing seat belts. Trapper’s Loop was closed from midnight until 4 a.m. during the cleanup of the accident.

The victim has not yet been identified, pending notification of family.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
