GARFIELD COUNTY — The National Park Service recently published a proposed rule to allow bicyclists on 6.2 miles of a shared-use pathway in Bryce Canyon National Park.

The shared-use path would also be available for runners and walkers, according to a news release.

The path would be cheduled to open in the spring of 2016, and the trail section would connect Bryce Canyon City and the Powell District of the U.S. Forest Service to Bryce Canyon National Park.

National Park Service regulations require a declaration to the public of a special regulation to create new bike routes outside of park roads and developed areas. The public can comment on the Multi-Use Visitor Path Environmental Assessment by visiting the National Park Service’s Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website.

The proposed rule is available on the regulations website. To access the proposed rule, search “Bryce Canyon” under “search for a proposed rule.” Comments will be accepted through Jan. 26, 2015.
