SALT LAKE CITY – Police are searching for two men suspected in vehicle theft, assault and possible burglary across the Wasatch front.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Michael Ross says the pair’s first known theft was on November 21st when a Midvale man left his truck idling in the cold. When he returned his truck was gone.

That truck showed up again Tuesday morning around 6:45 when a Salt Lake man stepped outside to see two men rifling through his car. Ross says the men jumped in the stolen truck and the victim used his car to pursue the pair.

“The truck turned around and actually rammed the male’s car and they continued to flee,” Ross said. “The male followed it, gave us the information which direction the suspects were going.”

They drove a few more blocks then abandoned the truck at 400 West and 300 North. It sat in the face of oncoming traffic while the men ran on foot.

"Once we found the truck here we verified it was actually stolen out of Midvale and there were actually stolen items in the truck also,” Ross said. “So these guys have been on a little bit of theft spree so they were pretty desperate to get away.”

The victim declined an interview request.

Ross said police are still searching for the men. Both were dressed in dark clothing. Police ask that if you know anything about the thefts or chase, contact them via dispatch at 801-799-3000.
