AMERICA — With Thanksgiving coming up, here are four movies that will leave you feeling thankful for different reasons.

"The Princess Bride"

In “The Princess Bride,” Westley is a poor farm boy who has a deep romantic love for the beautiful Buttercup. When Westley is thought to be killed at sea, Buttercup becomes engaged to Prince Humperdinck, though her affections still lie with Westley. Unbeknownst to her, Westley is alive and has taken over the mantle of the Dread Pirate Roberts. Throughout the rest of the movie, Westley must fight and claw his way back to his true love in a fun and hilarious family friendly film. Check out “The Princess Bride” and be thankful for the power of true love.

"The Hunger Games"

“The Hunger Games” is a dystopian movie where the United States has been divided into 13 districts that must produce two youths to the yearly “Hunger Games.” In these “Hunger Games,” the youths from each district must fight and kill each other in a battle royale to see who will be the last one standing. The film primarily focuses on the tributes from District 12, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, as they seek to keep their humanity amidst brutal violence. This Thanksgiving, watch “The Hunger Games” and be thankful that you do not live in a violent dystopia.

"Les Miserables"

In “Les Miserables,” Jean Valjean is a former prisoner who seeks redemption and a new life after being released from prison. His journey to restoration is made complicated by the merciless policeman Javert, who will stop at nothing to track down Valjean after he breaks his parole. Mixed in this central conflict are the tales of other poor peasants who are dealing with the harsh realities of life among the masses in 19th century France. This Thanksgiving, turn on “Les Miserables” and be grateful for second chances.

"Remember the Titans"

In “Remember the Titans,” Coach Boone is an African-American football coach who is charged with the task of coaching a recently integrated high school. At first, the task appears next to impossible as the players and some of the coaches are resistant to such a drastic change. As the film progresses, players, coaches and fans of the team are touched and learn about brotherhood that transcends racial barriers. After your annual Turkey Bowl, throw on “Remember the Titans” and be grateful for the life lessons that sports can teach.
