After Allyson drew her limited entry elk tag, she thought the hardest part was behind her. Boy was she wrong, as she didn't see an elk during her first scouting trip. But on opening morning Allyson made a great stalk and shot and her dream of harvesting her first bull became a reality. Allyson says the real work was when she and her husband hauled this beast off the mountain. An experience she'll never forget.
Lisa waited 15 years for her tag and after she drew she decided to try a new DWR program that would allow both her and her 17 year old son Harley a chance to carry a rifle. Lisa says this gift is one her son will never forget, whereas Lisa just wanted to fill the freezer. On the second day Harley did just that with this fine 360 class bull. Harley gave his mom the biggest hug and said thank you.. Lisa says she can't wait to draw again as it will be Dallon's turn next time.
Nordhoff brothers Bryan and Matt both drew tags this year. Bryan on the Pahvant, Matt on the Wasatch and both bagged two great bulls with just two days left to hunt. Matt says, now they just need to talk the wives into letting them hang them in their living rooms.
Brant had an amazing general season elk hunt in the high Uintah mountains. Brant and his family spotted this big six by seven along with his ten cows as they tried to cross a river. A perfectly placed shot and bull was down, problem was he died right in the river. They used a horse to pull him out and pack him back to camp. Brants says, a wonderful and memorable hunt.
And finally our winner tonight has had a year most of us only dream about. Tag Mecham had a chance to go to Alaska and hunt with Alaska Outfitters and her guide Rebecca. For thirteen days these two women hunted hard. Tad scored big, bagging this caribou, a bull moose and this big black bear. Then she came home, worked 20 hours and went on her limited entry elk hunt and bagged this 380 class bull on the last morning of her hunt. Tad says, Not to bad for a girl huh...Well Tad, no that's pretty good and your hot streak continues as you just bagged our big prize for having...the snapshot of the week.
