MORGAN COUNTY — A tractor-trailer carrying fuel leaked nearly 200 gallons of diesel and slid off a freeway off-ramp in Morgan County.

It happened early Monday morning on I-84 near the Taggart Exit.

UHP said the tractor-trailer took a corner too fast, slipped on ice and slammed into a guard rail. The trailer landed about 30 feet down an embankment. Emergency crews cut the driver out of the tractor. He had minor injuries.

Exit ramp 108 was closed for several hours while crews cleared the accident and cleaned up fuel. The road reopened shortly before 9 a.m.

UHP said black ice was to blame and urged drivers to slow down.

Elsewhere, Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed for avalanche control. It reopened around 8:15 a.m.
