OGDEN — A police officer and a wanted man were taken to a hospital Thursday night following a shooting at a restaurant.

The officer and suspect were transported to McKay-Dee Hospital Center following what police called a "critical incident" about 8 p.m. at Lee's Mongolian BBQ, 2866 Washington Blvd., Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle reported.

Two officers went looking for the man at the restaurant after receiving a tip, Croyle said. Shots were fired in an altercation, and the man was hit. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was undergoing surgery Thursday night.

No additional information about the man was released.

One of the officers was also injured in the exchange, but not shot. He was being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

No one else in the restaurant was injured, and officers were interviewing a number of witnesses.

Police did not release how many shots were fired or whether the man was armed.

Traffic in the area, including pedestrian traffic, was diverted as police investigated. The shooting will be reviewed by a police task force and the Weber County Attorney's Office.
