SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested after he entered a woman’s home and threatened to kill her ex-husband Monday, police said.

The woman was at home near 1000 West and 400 South when Robert Samora, 31, knocked on her back door around 9:30 p.m., according to Salt Lake police Det. Greg Wilkin. He said Samora was carrying a baseball bat and let himself in when she answered the door.

Samora demanded to see her ex-husband, who was not present, and refused to leave until she got him to come to the home because he wanted to “kill him,” according to the probable cause statement. She called her ex-husband and Samora confronted him when he arrived, Wilkin said.

“The man basically had the bat and tried to hit (the ex-husband), and (the ex-husband) took the bat from the suspect and hit the suspect,” Wilkin said. “The suspect ran off, and at that point police had been called. We responded to the area and were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.”

Samora was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and criminal trespass and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Wilkin said he wasn’t sure what sort of relationship the two men had.

“They were acquainted somehow,” he said. “Obviously, the suspect had some kind of beef with our victim. There was some reason he was upset with him, so that’s why he came over and expressed that he wanted to hurt him.”

Neither of the men were seriously injured, Wilkin said.
