WILLARD, Box Elder County — A 17-year-old girl died and an 18-year-old man was injured after a single-vehicle, rollover accident near Willard Bay, police said.

A 17-year-old girl from Garland was headed south in I-15 when her truck drifted into the median, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. She overcorrected back onto the pavement and was ejected when the pickup rolled an estimated 50 feet.

Police reported that the girl was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition and later died from her injures.

The man was in poor condition and was taken to an area hospital via ambulance, but he is expected to be released from the hospital Friday evening, UHP said.

Neither of the victims were wearing seat belts, police said.

Southbound traffic was diverted to SR-89 while officials responded to the accident, but all lanes were open as of 9 p.m. Friday.

The accident is currently under investigation. More information will be posted when it's available.
