GARFIELD COUNTY — A trophy bull elk was shot and killed in Garfield County and Division of Wildlife Resources officials are asking for the public’s help in locating the poacher.

DWR conservation officers received information about the poached elk on Oct. 7. The officers located the 6-point bull elk on the Center Creek Ranch, about 2.5 miles south of Antimony, according to a DWR news release. An investigation revealed the elk had been shot and “left entirely to waste.”

Anyone with information about the illegal killing of the animal can contact DWR with the UTip Hotline at 1-800-662-3337. Rewards are available for information leading to the successful prosecution of the poacher, DWR said.
