HERRIMAN — Police asked for help Wednesday to identify two people who they say drove a stolen vehicle to two stores and made purchases with a stolen credit card.

A grey, 2006 GMC Yukon Denali was stolen from in front of a couple’s home in Herriman on Oct. 17, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department. He said the theft occurred between 4 and 8 a.m.

“Unfortunately, the owner of the car had left her purse in the car, so the suspects got in and got the keys to the car from the purse and then had access to the wallet there,” he said.

Shortly after the vehicle was stolen, Hoyal said the credit cards from the wallet were used to make purchases at a Harmons in Taylorsville and a Home Depot in Cottonwood Heights. Police obtained surveillance footage of a woman making purchases. The man was observed driving the Yukon Denali.

The credit cards were cancelled once the couple realized their vehicle had been stolen, so no other purchases have been made since that time, Hoyal said. The Yukon Denali has not yet been recovered by police. The vehicle has the Utah license plate 217VYS.

The woman in the surveillance video was described as being Caucasian with black hair. She was wearing a purple or blue zip-up jacket with sweatpants, police said. The man was described as being Caucasian and wearing a “Live Lucky” hat, black sweatshirt and grey t-shirt.

Anyone with information about the identity of the people or the theft can contact the Unified Police Department at 385-468-9518.
