PAROWAN, Iron County — A young buck deer was killed in the middle of the night in a residential neighborhood and left to waste, Division of Wildlife Resources said.

Around 3 a.m. on Oct. 19, a Parowan resident contacted local authorities after hearing a single gunshot in his neighborhood, DWR said in a release. Conservation officers responded, discovering the body of a buck near several homes and a school.

“The person, or people, involved in this case demonstrated a reckless disregard for human safety and of wildlife laws and regulations,” the release said.

The DWR is asking anyone with information about the poaching to call the UTiP hotline at 1-800-662-3337. Rewards are available for individuals who provide information that leads to successful apprehension and conviction.
