WEST JORDAN — The West Jordan Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying two females who are believed involved in a recurring graffiti problem.
The persons of interest have spray painted a fence at 3210 W. 8475 South multiple times. On Sept. 11, a homeowner who installed a video surveillance camera saw two females tag the fence, according to West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts.
Roberts said graffiti has been particularly intense in that area, and he said it's hard to catch taggers unless they're caught "mid-spray." The city even hired a person to remove graffiti from city property.
Annette Day has lived in the neighborhood since 1977, and she said her fence has been graffitied four times. After the second time, she decided to invest in a security camera.
"I thought this time we had them, because we have the security cameras," Day said.
But her security cameras aren't equipped to film clearly at night, so her camera only captured outlines of two people..
Victim Brandon Mclane said he got lucky, because his fence is under a streetlight.
"The one who did the tagging was right under (the) streetlight, and she looked right up at it. Her face is as clear as can be."
"It's the first case that I'm aware of that we've had video that we can release," Roberts said.
