SALT LAKE CITY — The Miami Dolphins are one of the NFL’s hardest teams to figure out.

One week, they appear to be a playoff-bound team; the next, they struggle to perform at a high level. Luckily for Miami, the former proved true this week as the Dolphins beat the Chicago Bears on the road, 27-14.

Former Utah defensive standout Koa Misi made six tackles for the Dolphins, while returning linebacker Derrick Shelby had a sack and a tackle in the game. Other standout performances from Utah alumni included Chargers safety Eric Weddle’s 13 tackles in a 23-20 home loss to Kansas City.

In the Chiefs-Chargers game, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith completed 19 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. Also, Kansas City defensive back Sean Smith made two tackles. Other marks included Paul Kruger’s one tackle in Cleveland’s 24-6 loss to Jacksonville, Star Lotulelei’s one tackle in a 38-17 loss to Green Bay, and Paul Soliai’s one tackle in Atlanta’s 29-7 loss to Baltimore.

Also, San Diego’s Tenny Palepoi made three tackles in the Chargers’ loss to Kansas City, while Baltimore’s Steve Smith caught three passes for 67 yards in the win over Atlanta. Minnesota’s Matt Asiata carried the ball six times for 24 yards in the Vikings’ 17-16 loss to Buffalo.

Detroit lineman Ezekiel Ansah represented BYU’s alumni best. Ansah made four tackles in the Lions’ 24-23 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Also, Steelers defensive lineman Brett Keisel had an interception in Pittsburgh’s 30-23 win over the Houston Texans.

Utah State alum Jarrett Bush made four tackles in the Packers’ 38-17 win over the Carolina Panthers, and Seattle’s Robert Turbin caught three passes for 24 yards as the Seahawks lost their second consecutive game, a 28-26 defeat to the St. Louis Rams.
